1. What do I mean by Pserver/Queue Printing?
Pserver/Queue based printing is the term use on this page use to describe the typical NDS or Bindery queue based printing we are all used to.

2.  Can I print to a Canon printer using Pserver/Queue based printing to a Netware 5.x box
Yes.  It is possible to configure Netware 5.x for this type of printing.

3.  Does Netware 5.x support Pserver queue based printing out of the box
No.
The following 2 issues exist

    1. For Pserver/queue printing, Canon printers require IPX. Netware 5.x uses IP as its native protocol.  IPX may have to be added.
    2. There may be no native Netware application to create these queues (IE Pconsole)

3.1  What do you mean Netware 5.x may not have IPX installed and what do I do?
If the Netware 5.x server was upgraded from Netware 4.x, IPX protocol may still be installed and available.  It may also be disabled.  You must have the Netware Admin do this.
If this is a fresh Netware 5.x server, you must have the Netware Admin install and correctly configure IPX protocol.  You must ensure they get the correct network number

3.2 What do you mean there may be no Netware application available to create the queues
If the Netware 5.x server was upgraded from Netware 4.x, NWADMIN and Pconsole should be available
If this is a fresh Netware 5.x server, their will be no Pconsole support.

4. The Netware Admin has confirmed or correctly configured IPX on their Netware 5.x server.  I want to create NDS queues
If the customer requires a NDS queue environment, simply use NWADMIN as usual.  You can also use Pconsole.  See Step 5.

5. The Netware Admin has confirmed or correctly configured IPX on their Netware 5.x server.  I want to create bindery queues.
Bindery queue creation requires the Pconsole utility.  This file should be available on Netware 5.x servers that were upgraded from Netware 4.x
If this is a fresh Netware 5.x server and you have a licence for Netware 4.x, you can use the following files to run Pconsole from a workstation.

You must obtain these files from your old Netware server

(These files fit on a floppy)
Ibm_run.ovl
Nwdsbrws.msg
Pconsole.exe
Pconsole.hep
Pconsole.msg
Schema.xlt
Textutil.hep
Textutil.idx
Textutil.msg
