iR-5000 BOOT ROM UPGRADE

An important note:
The IR5000 has 2 ROM DIMM slots.
J1010 holds the Main BOOT ROM
J1009 is normally empty.  It is used exclusively as a ROM DIMM programming slot.
In order to update the IR5000 BOOT ROM you must first obtain another ROM DIMM and insert it into J1009
This ROM DIMM does not have to be blank
The flash procedure will program the ROM DIMM in J1009
After the flash procedure move the ROM DIMM from J1009 to and replace the ROM DIMM in J1010
The older ROM DIMM in J1010 can be now be used for future Boot ROM upgrades

I need a iR5000 ROM DIMM
The part number for the ROM DIMM is FG3-1192-000

Here is a more detailed prodecure
- Power down copier.
- Remove rear cover of the machine
- Fit the ROM DIMM intended to be flashed into connector J1009 on the main controller (at this point you will have 2 ROM DIMM's in the machine.)
- Connect the bi-centronics cable between the machine and the copier
- Power up the computer and enter the service support tool.
- On the ir-5000, hold down the "2" and the "8" on the control panel to get into the download mode for the flashing of the ROM DIMM. Power up the machine       and hold down the "2" and "8" on the control panel.
- Once your in the down load mode on the copier, go to the computer and select the "boot" program under the ir-5000 section of the service support tool.
- Flash the boot rom.
- See the progress bar indicating the progress of the download work.
- When the download ends press OK > return to unit select menu > OK > Return to main menu > End service support tool.
- On the copier turn off the main power switch and disconnect the power plug
- Replace the ROM DIMM fitted to the connector J1009 of the main controller into the J1010 on the main controller.
- Mount the main controller cover.
- Mount the upper main cover.
